Memory is a choice

Sehyoung Lee, winner of the 2025 Performance Prize from the Villa Seurat Foundation, in partnership with Beaux-Arts de Paris, presented his work on June 12, 2026 in Paris.

The work explores attachment (in both its literal and symbolic senses) to one’s homeland; the journey and the sense of disorientation it brings; the precariousness of settling in a foreign land; constrained wandering; the difficult detachment from what defines our culture, strength, and roots; and the fleeting nature of memory.

We are also very pleased that Sehyoung’s work has been selected for an exhibition in Seoul on August 27, 2026, as part of an exhibition celebrating the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France, organized by the Korean Cultural Heritage Foundation (KF) and the French Embassy in Korea.

Our heartfelt Congratulations to Sehyoung Lee
